Early retirement: Budget living in Tulum, Mexico

Early retirement in Tulum, Mexico, was affordable and satisfying!

The question I was most often asked is, “How do you afford living in Tulum without working?”

The easy answer is I live a frugal life. I live well. I love this life. I could never afford to do this long-term if I had stayed in the U.S.

First, I’ll give the average monthly cost in short form. Then in a longer version, I’ll explain what the money actually buys.

Read the full breakdown here.

(My husband retired early and joined me in Tulum, after I’d lived there for four months alone. Now, we are on a continuous travel journey around the world. Read about our early retirement adventure here.)

Ah, Tulum
